Hi, I’m Amber Mallett — founder and proud owner of poochgear, a brand dedicated to creating adorable, sturdy, and dependable dog accessories that are just as stylish as they are practical. My passion for rescue dogs began with my three German Shepherd mixes — Blaze, Bella, and Lilly. Each of them came from heartbreaking circumstances: abandonment, neglect, and uncertainty. Watching them slowly heal, regain trust, and blossom into the loyal, goofy, loving companions they are today completely changed my life. Through their journeys, I came to understand a deeper truth: behind every rescue success story are countless others who never get that chance. Shelters and rescue organizations are overflowing, often stretched beyond their limits, and yet they continue to fight every day to save as many lives as they can. That’s why I created poochgear — not just as a business, but as a movement. When you shop with poochgear, you’re not just buying a leash, collar, or accessory. You’re joining a community of dog lovers who believe every pup deserves to feel safe, loved, and celebrated. This is more than a brand to me — it’s a tribute to Blaze, Bella, and Lilly, and to all the rescue dogs still waiting for their forever homes. Every wagging tail, every rescued life, every happy ending — that’s what drives poochgear forward. Thank you for being here. Thank you for believing in second chances. And thank you for helping us make the world a little brighter — one pup at a time.
Hey there, I'm Blaze-and here's how I got my second chance at life. When my mom got pregnant, her owners didn't want any puppies. So at just 6 weeks old, me and my 13 siblings were dumped at a park, left to survive on our own. We were tiny, scared, and didn't know what to do. Luckily, a kind lady found me and scooped me up. She couldn't keep me, but she was determined to find me a safe home. While she was out and about, she crossed paths with two young kids and their dad. The moment they saw me, their eyes lit up-and just like that, I had a family They brought me home, fed me with bottles, and gave me all the love I needed to grow strong and healthy. That care is what helped me become the happy, wise, old man I am today.I may have had a tough start, but thanks to the kindness of strangers and the love of my forever family, I've had a life full of belly rubs, cozy naps, and second chances.
Hi, I;m Bella-and this is my rescue story. I spend the beginning of my life chained up in a yard in Tijuana, with no food, no water. and no one to care if I survived another day. I was weak, covered in ticks, and completely malnourished. Every day felt like the same-lonely and painful. Then one day, something changed. A rescue team saw me. For the first time, I felt hope. They wanted to help me, but my so-called owners refused to let me go. Luckily, the rescuers didn't give up. With some bribing and a lot of determination they finally freed me from that heavy chain. I was scared but safe-and soon I was on my way to California. There, I met my fosters - my angles. They cared for me, healed me, and most importantly they saw me for the sweet, strong soul I always was. They didn't just foster me. They adopted me. Now, I love every day surrounded by love, belly rubs, and treats. My story may have started in darkness, but it's led me to a life full of light and I hope it inspired others to give dogs like me a second chance.
Hi, I'm Lilly- and this is the story of how I found my forever home. I was born in the backyard of someone who owned my parents but they were anything but kind. My mom and dad were chained up, neglected and we-my siblings-were treated like we didn't matter. They didn't feed us properly, didn't love us, and they refused to give us to a rescue even though we desperately needed help. One by one, all my brothers passed away. It was heartbreaking. Eventually, the people gave in and handed me and my three sisters over to a rescue. I was finally free! The rescue gave us food, love, and the care we'd never known. Not long after, this kind young lady-who I now know as the heart behind poochgear came to pick us up. She brought us to the most beautiful place I'd ever seen. A home. We were free to run, play, and just be puppies. We even had foster siblings! Bella, who has been rescued herself, became like a mom to us. Slowly, my sisters found their forever homes, and I was the last one left. But instead of being alone, something amazing happened - I became part of the family. My foster siblings became my real siblings, and the girl who saved me became my best friend. Now, I get to live every day surrounded by love, play, and purpose-and I get to help other dogs find the same.
